A few apps and podcasts that I enjoyed during the week.
And without further ado.
The latest Ulysses is out, and it is hands-down the best and most complete writing solution for me. Both on the desktop and most importantly on iOS. It’s so good, that it easily would justify getting an iPad only to use it.
As Ulysses contains all my writing I have continued to look for an Evernote replacement. I thought I could go with OneNote, but after using it full time it turned out that I was wrong and considered a Dropbox- based approach. The just released 2.0 of DevonThink to Go might just what I have looking for. Even though it is a bit on the pricey edge, the app/suite seems to hit all the right spots for me. But more on that later.
During the last couple of days I have been bingeing the podcast Wolf 359 and enjoy it a lot. It took a few episodes to get into it, but now (currently at episode 19) looking forward how it continues.
WOLF 359 is a radio drama in the tradition of Golden Age of Radio shows. Set on board the U.S.S. Hephaestus space station, the dysfunctional crew deals with daily life-or-death emergencies, while searching for signs of alien life and discovering there might be more to their mission than they thought.
On Friday we played with the Oulu All Stars Big Band on Elojazz. The program was music from Quentin Tarantino movies, arranged and conducted by Vellu Halkusalmi and soloist was Teemu Viinikainen. It was a very nice concert with great playing.
The idea of posting a Things I Like post I have from blogger Seth Clifford. I like the concept, since it is a lot less formal than a week in review and longer than a link post without turning into a fully fletched post.
